  2. Authors and Entertainers:

Jack Suter, son of WV Author John Suter, will be on site to give each library a copy of his father’s book.

Stacy Hutton will have her newly published book, “Shovelful of Sunshine” as well as present a program on using picture books as an instructional tool.

Join in the excitement as Santa runs into fun with Piper the Elf Trains Santa, a children’s book by Colleen Driscoll. When Santa’s suit doesn’t fit, Mrs. Claus asks Piper the elf to begin exercising with Santa. The trouble is that Santa doesn’t like to exercise. But that doesn’t stop Piper from having fun playing with Santa. Learn how children can be motivated to participate in physical activity and share fun memories together with Santa and his elves.

“Butterflies from Heather” is an interactive business with live butterflies, caterpillars, chrysalids and more. Heather Tokas will share her experiences and insights about the "gentle power of butterflies" and discusses what butterflies do to enrich our lives. Heather will take orders and bookings for next spring and summer events. Services available are interactive educational programming with or without a walk-in butterfly tent, summer library events, end of school good behavior rewards, butterflies for release (Weddings, fundraisers, RFL, memorials, parties, or funerals) and caterpillars for the classroom, individual self study or LIBRARIES.

GRAMMY nominee Zak Morgan will present his own brand of children's music delivering songs and poems with wit and charm that inspire and tickle the funny bones of children and adults alike.

Sarah Goslee Reed's new album, Plenty, is her fifth and finest yet. The stated aim of the album is to celebrate life by sorting out the difference between wants and needs. But the unstated thread that binds it all together is community, for the rural Ohio songwriter knits together contributions from supporting musicians, family, friends and even local schoolchildren to fill a cornucopia with life, well-lived. Now, lest this sound like soppy, feel-good platitudes, don't doubt that Reed knows and shows that joy only takes its full luster when it emerges from the shadows of loss and sorrow. That's life, and this album lives.

WV Writers: Barbara Myers and Lily Hamilton
Every early childhood classroom needs to have many books and pictures that promote diversity including “ages”. Recognizing that there are fewer of this type of books available, Barbara Myers decided to write such a book with her young granddaughter, Lily.

Barbara Myers (Nana) had a 42-year career as an educator and many of those years focused on early childhood education including teaching in and administering Head Start and Early Head Start. She provided leadership in implementing Pre-K in Monongalia County and is now retired to enjoy her 13 grandchildren.
Lily Hamilton is now 7 years old and just finished her first grade year of school. She has spent a lot of time traveling and promoting her first book, Lily & Nana, and is excited to write more books about her experiences of school. Lily lives next door to Nana in Morgantown, WV.

Lily and Barbara have just completed a second book Lily Goes to School which will be released in early October. That book will be available for this conference—hot off the press.
